Five tips for an Insta-worthy prom

Attending prom is a beautiful rite of passage. It's a night full to the brim of good times and great memories. Guests will undoubtedly want to reminisce over their prom for years to come, so they will need some amazing photos to upload to social media accounts and remember all the little details that made this moment in time so special. So, here are five great tips to help you organise an Instagram-worthy prom.

1. Photographer
First thing's first, don't mess around when it comes to organising a photographer. You don't want to make a huge effort to be looking (and feeling) fabulous and confident and not have stunning pictures to match! A professional photographer will know exactly how to get the best snaps on the night. They'll manage different lighting and angles and will encourage you to strike the best pose. Plus, it leaves you free to enjoy every minute of the night without having to worry about who is capturing all the memories.

2. Red carpet arrival
Kick off the night in true glamour and style with an iconic red-carpet arrival. Guests can practice their best celeb poses and get ready to feel like the VIPs they are.

3. Backdrops and props
Add a touch of something unique to your prom venue with cool or quirky backdrops or set-ups. Get some seriously Instagrammable pictures with a beautiful balloon wall, an abundance of paper flowers, fairy lights, cute frames, bunting, sparkly curtains, a giant moveable mural or light-up letters. Organise your backdrop and props to tie in with your prom theme or the evening's colour palette to create a seamless feel to your event.

4. Food stations
Buffets are out and DIY food and snack stations are in. Think candy floss and popcorn machines, hot dog and taco carts, an ice-cream sundae station or a glamorous mocktail bar. Not only are these cute additions great for creating a fun vibe for the night, but you'll score high with Instagrammable photos of your guests having a ball experiencing everything on offer.

5. Location, location, location
You don't need to stick to the same room all night to get the best snaps. Getting around to a few different places within your prom venue for photos will bring another dimension to capturing memorable moments. Perhaps your prom venue has a beautiful staircase, pool area or garden where group or individual shots can be taken. Different locations mean varied lighting and photography set-ups, so make sure you've had a chat with your photographer and the prom venue in advance about using these different locations.

And finally (and probably most importantly), don't forget to pick a prom-worthy filter for all your pics… and get sharing using #prom!
