It's been a long time coming, but 2023 really is the year you can plan your event knowing everything you hope for will happen without a hitch. Whether you're planning a wedding or preparing for a party, you'll want your guests to experience something fun, memorable – and unique. But where do you start to make sure you stand out?
Here at Marriott, we know many of you are looking for a little inspiration. To get your ideas flowing, our Memory Makers have put together their five top event trends to look out for in 2023 – each delivered, of course, with the exclusive Marriott touch.
Pantone officially announced their colour of the year: Viva Magenta. It's strong, bright and marks 2023 as the year to make a real statement.
If you love vibrant colour, go big and bold with Viva Magenta. Think bridesmaid or prom dresses, birthday party balloon arches, or a pink flower wall. If muted tones are more your usual style, you could try subtle nods to colour with magenta suit ties or pocket squares, colour pop place cards and menus, or even a cheeky pink wedding shoe.
Hold an anniversary reception
Wedding plans postponed by the pandemic, but still want to throw a party? If you managed to get married but it wasn't the big day you'd hoped for, join us on your anniversary. We'll make the wedding reception you couldn't have before happen for you right now in one of our city, town or countryside hotels across the UK.
Our Memory Makers are wedding day experts, so they'll talk you through the ways they can deliver the day of your dreams. You might want a full wedding-style reception, with lots of guests and every big plan and finer detail taken care of. Or, we can custom-create an intimate gathering of your closest family and friends, with full catering and exquisite décor provided by our team.
Say ‘I Do' outdoors
Have you dreamt of an outdoor wedding, but couldn't find the right location? Now, thanks to new licencing laws, getting married outside is much easier – and we've plenty of beautiful backdrops here at Marriott.
Say your vows in the sea air by the sweeping shoreline next to Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel, or in the beautifully landscaped grounds of Delta Hotels York overlooking York Racecourse. If a more private setting suits you, consider Garden Court at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club, where you'll marry in the enclosed outdoor space and use the lovely gardens for drinks and photos.
Make your event eco-conscious
From proms to parties, many of us are looking for ways to make our events a little more environmentally friendly. And 2023 will see that sustainability soar, with more and more eco-aware events and more people planning parties with a purpose.
There are plenty of ways you can get started to make sustainable statements at your event. An additional, or even exclusively, vegan menu is a great way to showcase the power of plants with our chefs' talented touches. You could make your place cards and invitations from recyclable material, hire instead of buying your suits and dresses, or use dried flowers that can be repurposed. There's a lot to consider, but your Memory Maker is on hand to give you plenty of ideas.
Get married in the morning
For a literal take on the ‘wedding breakfast', why not get married as the day begins? An early ceremony truly makes the rest of the day your own, with an entire day to celebrate at Marriott.
After you've said ‘I Do', our team will take care of you and your wedding party for the whole day here at your chosen Marriott venue. You'll be able to pick the time of day when the sunlight hits just right in your perfect photo spot, have more chances to mingle with your guests and, most importantly, spend that extra time with your new husband or wife. Then, head back to your rooms to freshen up before you dance the night away.
Whatever you've planned for 2023, your Memory Maker is here to help you take on the trends, come up with new ideas, and design your unique event - in your own way. Simply get in touch with your perfect Marriott venue to create a 2023 event that's one to remember all year – and beyond.
