Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming at first but it's important to keep one thing in mind… it's your day (well, you and your partners!) and that means it should be filled with things that you both love. There are so many sources of inspiration and ideas out there and often friends and family members can have their own opinions about what makes the perfect wedding day, but at Delta Hotels Durham Royal County, we encourage couples to create a celebration that is truly unique to them.
Our Memory Maker, Katie, has shared her top tips for doing exactly that…
Food, glorious food
You can't go wrong with a traditional wedding breakfast but, if you fancy something a little different, our talented Chefs are always up for a challenge.
Sharing board starters are great for a wedding – they allow guests to tuck into a tasty selection of small bites and encourage everyone at the table to mingle and get to know one another as the food is devoured!
Or, for more informal celebrations, guests love our indulgent buffet displays – think burger bars, chip and dip stations, donut walls, ice cream carts… the opportunities are endless!
Tell your story
Your wedding is a chance to celebrate your journey together so far. Some of the most memorable elements of any wedding are the ones that add a personal touch. Why not make your table names the titles of your favourite songs, or destinations you've visited together? Or create a photo gallery of pictures together throughout the years.
Transform our space
We work with some incredibly talented local suppliers who can completely transform our event spaces, exactly to your liking.
Everyone loves beautiful floral displays but there are so many other options. Consider dried and faux flowers – they add a lovely rustic vibe and they last forever, the perfect memento of your special day. Balloons arches offer a colourful and eye-catching alternative to flowers – consider creating a display at the bottom of the aisle or behind the top table to create the perfect backdrop for photographs. And lastly, make it personalised with neon signs or welcome boards.
Make the party last!
One of the best things about getting married in a hotel is you can really stretch out the celebrations! Invite your closest family and friends to stay for a couple of nights so you can continue the party. Consider an informal drinks reception the night before, or a team breakfast the morning after so you can de-brief and share stories about the big day!
Whatever your perfect wedding day entails, allow us to help bring it to life! Our friendly and professional team of Memory Makers will guide you through every stage of the planning process and ensure that saying ‘I Do' is everything you hoped it would be… and more!
